Worlds largest donation of Troll Dolls

“Hope this doesn’t sound weird?” said a strange man calling early on a Tuesday morning as I was driving to work.    Yes, I  had to pull over the get the details.  “Go ahead, I will listen” I said back.  He said he has a troll doll collection and he looked on the internet and found me as the infamous troll collector and he is looking to find a home for over 4,800 trolls.  As the story unfolded he confides he is a Peez candy dispenser collector and he had a girlfriend who liked trolls, so he purchased so many trolls for the girlfriend, even making a single purchase of 2,000 Russ trolls from a woman in Seattle.  But alas the relationship went south and the girlfriend was not bonded to him or the trolls.  Two years has gone by since she left him and the trolls. His parents want the space in their garage back.  He thoughtfully researched ideas he had for selling the trolls; donating them to an orphanage for children, or to an animal sanctuary for dog chew toys. He decided a Troll museum would be most fitting and had reached out to me, the one who would treasure the trolls.  I eagerly agreed to accept each and every troll, and even volunteered to pick them up as soon as possible.
So, there I was a few hours later, in the company van with my dubious husband, winding up and down steep hills of western Pennsylvania into isolated and forlorn looking middle of nowhere wondering if something too good to be true was true, or thoughts of Craigslist killers luring us unsuspecting into remote areas.  Happily the road turned into a quaint little town on the edge of the Allegheny River, with a familiar Dollar General Store and nice residential homes and people bustling about.  We pulled up and the garage door popped open and a lovely woman and her daughter carried out totes of trolls, boxes of trolls, and even a new trashcan full of trolls.  All nicely sealed with duct tape.  The ffamily was thankful and appreciative to see the trolls depart . They shared a few details of how $1,600 was spent on unrequited love of trolls, and about the how the girlfriend disappeared.
The man who owned the trolls was not home but I left him and the family complimentary tickets for tour of the Troll Museum. I hope they come visit the trolls happy in their new home.

Next the excitement of sorting out trolls into stacks by manufacturer, size, outfits and hair colors to pull out the unique ones to add to the collection as I compete to break my own world record for the most troll dolls in a single collection.

How to Shave 10 hours off Your work week blogpost review

My troll journey has inspired me to diversify my talents and develop new business opportunities, thus I am in the middle of crafting the ” Troll Book” to end all troll books.
As I research the ends and outs, the hows and whys of writing a book, I am seeking a writing editing mentor. Amazing how one internet site leads to another, and then to another, and so on.  I started with Hay House, which lead to Balboa press, which lead to KN Editing  then to Michael Hyatt, author of Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World.  I  explored the blogs and advice of Michael Hyatt as the man to show me how to build  the platform from which to launch a book.
Then  my eye was caught by the “How to Shave 10 hours off your work week” guide offer.  Well since I am trying to insert writing time into my busy schedule the possibility that I might be able to cross a few extra things off my list,  I had to click and sign up for this free bit of advice.  So, over the course of 4 days, final slug my way to the bottom of the 49 page booklet only to find a 4 page synopsis of his article at the end.  “WOW”, I thought to myself,  how about saving time by skipping to the bottom of a catchy articles to see what is important for a tip????
Here is my latest for saving me precious time.  Since I inadvertently purchased a laundry service business with my last land acquisition, I now send my laundry out to my own Carnation Cleaners full service cleaners saving myself hours on my precious Sundays at home. So I now delegate one task off my list to another person or service which frees up extra time for me to do things I really want to do, which is not laundry.
What is your latest insight into saving time?  We could all use more help in this area.FullSizeRender

Why Trolls ?

Hello, I am Sherry Groom, troll doll expert, and I live in Northeast Ohio. I am a  wife, mother,  employee and employer, but my life is shared with over 15.000 troll dolls.

I have collected troll dolls and troll memorabilia as long as I can remember.  My passion for trolls has encompass and edges out some of my other interest, such as gardening. I have a green thumb, and I also have a strong connection to animals, especially dogs.  Many have said that I am a natural animal whisperer, because of the way animals respond to me.  I have always surrounded myself with animals and over the years I have raised and breed dogs , goats, poultry and even African pygmy hedge hogs.

In collecting trolls I first had a row of trolls, then 2 rows, then 3; then I had bookcases full of trolls. Next I had a spare bedroom filled floor to ceiling with trolls.  Then I was forced, due to space limitations, to storing boxes full of trolls in the basements as the room was too full.  The only logical thing to do is to have the troll dolls start earning their keep.

After my home was overflowing the next step was to create a space for trolls to share with the world.  The Troll Hole Museum has evolved from a modest troll art exhibit to a Guinness World Record collection and now a full-fledge museum.  Along the way I have learned so much about trolls.  I am no ordinary fanatic horde collector freak person, but rather a real down to earth entrepreneur with several businesses, an in-depth business plan and strategies for growing my troll business.  The Troll Hole Museum is my “sand box”  and escape from the corporate world, and an artistic outlet that allows me to let my hair down and play.

Historic downtown Alliance’s Main street, like so many down towns  across America, had become a sadly neglected and devalued street where historically there once were vibrant successful business commerce.  The memories that remain with the local residents I found is springing hope of a economic resurgence.  Taking  the opportunity to recycle, revive and reuse old buildings is my ultimate inspired plan to have a troll doll sanctuary and Troll Education Center where everyone can come to see and learn about trolls.  I now possess eleven addresses in historic downtown Alliance and am co-creating, with my husband, a tourist destination in the Arts District that is known as The Crossing, after the  railroad crossings that established this town in 1856.  The troll museum is the heart of this arts district and I as the troll expert  am putting out a book with all the details about trolls that have not been shared in print before in such a comprehensive and entertaining tale.

Check in weekly for entertaining, funny, insightful, playful tales from the troll expert.
